Lets rebuild the internet!
Imagine it… just like the 90s. Instead of Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, all that algorithm garbage… It's just people making their own little websites again. Raw HTML. Weird colors. No rules. No “optimize for engagement” CRAP. Just vibes. Back in the 90s and early 2000s, everyone had their own site. It sucked in a good way. Bright green text on black backgrounds, MIDI music blasting, broken links, weird pages about literally anything. It felt like you were actually finding people, not scrolling a feed designed to keep you addicted.

It’s kinda like the internet went corporate and sterile… and places like the Nekoweb and Neocities are people trying to drag it back to when it was messy and personal.

That’s what this whole indie web thing is now. People rebuild that on purpose.

No ads. No tracking. No “content strategy”. Just “I made this because I felt like it”

Some of these sites look like absolute garbage. On purpose. That’s part of it. It’s anti-polished. Anti-corporate. Anti-“everything needs to look like Apple designed it.”

Nekoweb and Neocities specifically are just places that hosts these sites. Like a little neighborhood of weirdos. You can click around and just fall into random pages made by people who clearly spent 6 hours obsessing over some niche thing nobody else cares about.

Sound familiar? Look at the damn website that you're on.

There is a second site. Less organized. Less respectable. More honest. It looks like the kind of page somebody would make after staying up too late staring into phosphor glow and realizing flat panels did not replace CRTs cleanly. They just buried them faster than people could process what got lost.
