This is everything around the display. Scalers, converters, switchers, VCRs, adapters, cables. All the stuff that actually gets the signal from the source to the screen. Some of it helps. Some of it fixes problems. Some of it absolutely ruins the image if you’re not careful. This is where things get messy.
Different devices handle signal differently. Some add lag. Some clean things up. Some completely change how the image looks. And a lot of the time, the gear matters just as much as the CRT itself. You can have a great display and a bad signal chain and the whole thing falls apart. Or you can take a decent CRT and make it look incredible with the right setup.
