Philips Magnavox PR0930X1

Year 2000.

The Philips Magnavox PR0930X1 is one of those tiny late-era consumer CRTs that should objectively be stupid… but somehow circles back around into being ADORABLE. She’s a 9-inch Funai-built kitchen TV with composite input, RF, a headphone jack, and for some reason an FM radio tuner built directly into the set.

Image quality is exactly what you’d expect from a cheap slot-mask consumer tube from this era. Soft, warm, colorful.. Geometry is usually “good enough”. On a set this small it doesn't really matter. If geometry is THAT bad she is probably broken lol.

Now let’s talk about the REAL feature. The flyback whine on this thing is absolutely outrageous. Young ears are going to hear this thing on any airplane that passes over my house. The moment she powers on there’s this unbelievably sharp high-pitched scream coming from the chassis like a dog whistle. Older CRT foamers with destroyed hearing probably won’t notice it at all. Any teenager is going to think the TV is about to explode. Tiny CRTs always sounded a bit…. Aggressive but this one is just angry about something.

I have the original box, foam inserts, sealed manual, and remote all in MINT condition.

A weird little NOS consumer CRT, intended for an early 2000s kitchen with real composite inputs and a LOUD personality? I love her. 6.7
